Blake was the beginning…

No-one in the group is called William.

The album “William’s Things” was supposed to be just a one time collaboration.

However, we fell in love with playing the compositions for audiences, that fell in love with us playing the compositions for them.

We found ourselves in a nameless trio that people liked and decided to enter into the realms of “a group”.

For the second album “A Soul Not All of Wood”, we needed a name.

Since we were already associated with the title “William’s Things” we stuck with that.

He is a trained clarinet player. Last year he graduated the Fryderyk Chopin Academy of Music. He also recorded a radio programme for Polish Radio 2. In these years he cooperated with many persons involved in the theatre world (Pawel Mykietyn, Lech Jankowski, Magdalena Smalara, Artur Lis and his “Teatr Plastyczny Makata”, Marcin Wrona) and the world of classical music (performance at Warsaw Autumn conducted by Jacek Kasprzyk, peformance with Polish Radio orchestra conducted by Jerzy Maksymiuk, performances with many conductors cooperating with Warsaw Academy of Music Orchestra). With Boys Band Trio, in which he plays tenor saxophone and do performance, I twice toured Russia in 2001 and 2002 (tours were organised by Sacha Cheparuchin, the manager of Hun Huur Tu). He played in yaroslav, Petersburg and Moscow. Since 1998 he has developed the idea of “survival performance” based on the “Energistic Manifest”. I implement this idea by my activity as a performer (festivals: Gdynia Summer Jazz Days, “Zadlo”, galleries “Spiz 7”, “Eufemia”, Dom Plastyka”, “Kotlownia”) and an author of educational projects (he graduated the intercollegiate Pedagogical College, he teach, he attend musicotherapy training). He works on the developmnet of his theories (publications in “Heksis”, “Cogito”, Utforum”). Currently he is writing music to texts by Itzig Manger a Jewish poet writing in yiddish. He will also continue his cooperation with folk musicians (music to kurpian poetry for an ensemble of bass clarinet, violin, bagpipe).
